Press Release:

This is Caleb Considine’s third solo exhibition at Bureau. Considine works from life, focusing increasingly on cityscapes and objects set up in his studio. In the five paintings and two drawings in this show, aspects of still life and landscape merge. Equally distributed attention to detail sits nestled within an outward facing formal orientation toward the paintings as objects.

Caleb Considine (b. 1982 Los Angeles, CA; lives and works in New York) received his BFA from Yale University and his MFA from Columbia University. Recent solo exhibitions include for Roland and Ramona, Galerie Buchholz, Cologne, 2019; Sandpaper Tongue, Bureau, New York, 2018; Cancelled, Galerie Buchholz, Berlin, 2017; Massimo de Carlo, London, 2016; Bureau, New York, 2015; Essex Street, New York, 2013. Selected group exhibitions include Monster, cur. by Liam Considine, Svetlana, New York, 2020; Hölle, Galerie Buchholz, New York, 2018; Kyiv Biennale, Visual Culture Research Center, Kyiv, Ukraine, 2015; Bad Conscience, organized by John Miller, Metro Pictures, New York, 2014 and Greater New York, MoMA PS1, New York, 2010. His work is in the collections of the Mead Museum of Art at Amherst College; Aïshti Foundation, Beirut; and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
